Our clinical analysis laboratory (Laboratorio del Dr. Lobato) is located in the city of Rota (province of Cadiz), a town of 30.000 inhabitants, in the region of Andalucía, Spain. It’s a first level laboratory and it is run on a day to day basis by four members of staff. We analyse around 20.000 serum samples per annum and these come mainly from our outpatient department.
Three years ago we decided to work with the LUMIPULSE G1200 from Fujirebio using their tumour and thyroid markers, as well as ferritin, IgE and vitamin D assays.
After three years of experience in routinely using the system, we are really satisfied with the choice we made. Both the reagents and the system work perfectly and we don’t have any complaints at all.
The strong points of the LUMIPULSE G1200 system are, in our view, as follows:
It’s an extremely robust system, without breakdowns.
The daily maintenance activities are minimum, with no requirement to change tubing or sample probes.
It’s a very clean system and is very easy to learn and use routinely.
It uses disposable sample tips, which avoids the fibrin accumulation that can occur when using fixed probes. This in turn can result in both obstruction of the sample probe and sampling errors.
In respect to the reagents, they also work very well:
They have an extremely high reproducibility, with a very low %CVs.
Results are comparable and we achieve good concordance in results when samples are outsourced and verified with other competitive reagents.
For all these reasons, we consider that the LUMIPULSE G1200 system fulfills, without any doubt, all the requirements needed to be used as an immunoassay analyzer in a routine laboratory, and we would recommend it without any problem to anyone who would ask us for our opinion.
